The 28, like the 27, was originally introduced in the 1970's as a designer frame for the large lenses that were popular during that time period. The faceted lens design provided a fashionable alternative for large, thick lenses. To this day, the 27 & 28 are still very popular choices.

To add custom Rx lenses, you will need to select the Standard Package or better and check "Rimless Drill" in Ad-Ons.
